Next in Mind is co-founded by Reach for Change, The Inner Foundation, and the Tim Bergling Foundation as a response to the rising mental health challenges of emerging adults in the Nordics.

Mapping the mental health system in the Nordics

The mental health challenge among emerging adults is a complex one. It’s an issue that needs a holistic approach in which we consider every step of the ladder from individual viewpoints and all the way up to the overarching support system and its policies. Therefore, we have a united cross-sector approach where we leverage and include expertise from the public and private sectors, academia, as well as mental health practitioners.

We will gather, empower and facilitate co-created ecosystem and advocacy initiatives between these key actors and social entrepreneurs to create awareness of the needs of emerging adults and where and how we need to push the needle in order to enable a stronger support system for emerging adults in the Nordics.

As the foundation of our ecosystem and advocacy work we are currently doing a comprehensive mapping of the mental health system in The Nordics. This will include 60 qualitative interviews with social entrepreneurs and actors in the private sector, public sector, academia and civil society and a quantitative survey with focus on representative data collection.

The result will be summarized in a report covering a more defined problem description and the biggest gaps and changes we need to see in order to improve mental health for all emerging adults in the Nordics. It will provide input for concrete recommendations that need to be implemented on a societal level by the government and public sector.
